BMW-WSM7 §36 Factory, by sheet: 12.77 and ’79 print 45–50 N·m (33.2–36.8 ft-lb) for the quick-release axle front and rear; the 1981 sheet prints 48 N·m (35 ft-lb). Wheel-bearing friction check at this torque: 15–30 Ncm. The 25 ft-lb this guide carried earlier traced to secondary tables and is withdrawn. NOT VERIFIED for R45/R65 — the small twins use different axle hardware; use the 248-series book.
